UnlockRoot Easily Roots Android Devices with One Click
To keep up with times, I recently purchased a new Sony Ericsson Xperia ray smartphone that runs on Android so that I can play around with it. It is a little overwhelming at first because there are icons everywhere but I eventually got used to it. I’ve heard about rooting android phones which is actually the same term as jailbreaking an iPhone. One thing is for sure. Rooting your android will void any warranty that you have on your phone unless there is a stock rom for your device in which case you can reverse the rooting and make your phone stock again.
Checking on the steps that has been posted on numerous forums and they seemed a little confusing with a lot of new jargon to learn. Thanks to UnlockRoot tool, it currently support automatic rooting of 563 android devices with a single click of a mouse button. Of course before rooting your android phone, it is best for you to first read up what is rooting and why should you root your android phone. If you think it is all worth it, then go ahead and root it with UnlockRoot.
First you should check if your android phone is listed on the support page. If your phone is supported, download UnlockRoot and install. First, you need to enable USB Debugging mode. To turn it on, go to Settings > Applications > Development and check the USB debugging checkbox. Then connect your phone to your computer and make sure that the computer is able to recognize your phone. If it doesn’t recognize, then you will have to download and install the software which contains the driver provided by the phone manufacturer. Now run UnlockRoot and click the Root button.
UnlockRoot will then try to determine your phone model with version. Click on the correct model to confirm.
After successfully rooting your android, UnlockRoot will prompt if you would like to install an app called PowerSaver which claims to help to prolong the phone battery life. They also have a PRO version that cost $3.86 that enables level 4 power saving mode.
Finally you will be prompted to reboot your phone to complete the rooting process.
Congratulations! Your android phone is now rooted and you have full control over your system and can tweak it to your liking. You may have noticed that there is an UnRoot button at UnlockRoot. The UnRoot button does exactly what it says which is unrooting your android phone which restores the warranty if it hasn’t expired.
Thanks for this guide, mate.

thanks ray.. It worked like charm :)

Thanks Raymond CC blog :)
Hey, Raymond … Why we need to root our Android deviced?
It allows you to have full access to your phone and to the root of it at /system .. gives you the ability to remove things that you arnt supposed to be able to.. it also gives you the ability to install apps that require root, for example Titanium Backup, one of the best backup apps out there, howoever, in order to use it, it requires root. most backup apps that I have seen (least the good ones) require root, being able to back up everything and then being able to restore it. this is just a few things.. rooting gives you so much capabilities to your phone.
Hey Raymond,
Sony
Congrats on your new Android phone.. they are a lot of fun to mess around with and way more customizable than the iPhone. You will have a lot of fun installing custom roms and changing it up to your liking. May I suggest to you (and the others there that are inquiring about questions on their phones) to check out the XDA-Developers site at forum.xda-developers.com/index.php this site pretty much has every Android phone out, it also takes care of Windows7 phones as well, andn they have a forum for iPhone as well that now sends you to a iPhone speicific site that branched off from theirs. This site is very valuable and comes in quite handy when you need any support for your phones. For example, on your new phone, here is the direct link for that Sony forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1239 (this should be it).. in there, as well as all of the other phone forums, you will see that you have a General Questions, a FAQ (usually, but not in yours), an Accessories section, then you have the Development (yours is split into the mini/active and then your ray) and then a Themes and Apps.
With this, the general will help you out with any questions you have about your phone, issues, how to’s (rooting, unlocking, unrooting, coming out of a soft brick, etc), why is my battery doing xxx, or my signal sucks how can i fix, etc. Great site to find answers, just make sure you use the search function as 9 times out of 10, your question has been asked before. The Development section has all of the developmental stuff. Here you will find all the custom roms, kernals, radios, and so on. This is where you will find all of your enjoyment at most likely. People create the roms and you can find the one that suits you the most. Some will keep it like stock, but give it better performance, some wil keep it like stock, but debloat it (take out all of the stock software crap that slows the device down a lot that most don’t or won’t use anyway). Then there are those that get way more into it and do even more. You will possibly even find the CynogenMod Rom. They take the Android to another level and pretty much remake the OS in a way. They will have links to inform you more about what CM is and if it is for you.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. But highly suggest you and the others take a look at that forum site. Register for it and watch the video they want you to watch about the rules etc as I will not lie, some people on there can be brutal and when people post the wrong things in sections or such obvious things that have been asked/answered multiple times and obvious that the poster did not use the search function, they can flame a bit. But, other than that, its a great site. I hope this help you out. Sorry if you were already aware of it as well :).

How can we also flash an android device please raymond?! thank you a lot
more on the technical part, does it unlock the bootloader and cause u to lose the drm?
does HTC Desire HD same as Desire in
unlockroot.com/unlockroot.php ?
my version is 2.3.5
Install OK
Open crashes on Win 7 x64
Already reinstalled it three times, same thing happens.
Any ideas?
Note:You need to install your device’s driver on your pc before do this
where can i find that?
Go to the phone manufacturer’s website.
For example, Sony Ericsson Xperia uses PC Companion.
Anyone root Lg Optimus 2x 2.3.4 with this tool ?
From the support page, I only see Optimus 2X
2.3.7. I guess you’ll need to update before you can use UnlockRoot to root your phone.
Awesome i have been looking for this from a long time, Raymond after rooting my device will i be able to install/move the apps the SD card too, which are actually supposed to be installed only on phone memory? Because i had Sony Ericsson MT15i, which actually has a very less internal memory 380MB. Installing a very few apps is killing my ram and space as well. Please suggest me any good application which could clean the device unwanted cache, after uninstalling the unwanted applications i feel that i’m not getting back my actually free space back.
From what I read on UnlockRoot’s help page:
“One of the most talked-about feature (or
disadvantage) of any Android device is the limitation where you can
install applications only in the phone’s internal memory and not the
SD card. While Google may reason that SD cards are slower in general and
cannot run apps as effectively as internal memory, fact of the matter
is that most Android devices do not come with massive internal
storage spaces, and hence greatly limit the number of applications
that can be installed at a time. With rooted devices, you can use
Apps2SD, which will copy ALL your applications to a ext2/3/4 formatted
SD card an will also store future builds in card. Freedom to choose!”
